The Close Encounter of the WRX Kind

In short I nearly got6 demerit points.

Long story:
I was driving along the PIE towards my home in the outer most lane at slightly above 90km/h.

The offence? A minivan is not allowed to drive on the outer most lane and above the limit of 70km/h.

I know about the limit but I clearly didn't know about the entire minivan-not-allowed-on-outer-most-lane thingy.

So I just gave my I'm-very-sorry-about-that-face and managed to get off the hook. I guess the deciding factor is that I only managed to get my license like last week.

Or he have already met his quota this month...

Must be my lucky day!

Break?

Every morning I keep saying to myself:

"I'm gonna start my revision for the quizzes ahead."

And I ended up wasting like half a day on the internet and the other half on computer games.

"I am going to school for revision. Nothing can distract me there!"

But the weather's so nice to sleep in. BTW, there's some bangla trying to open a heavy metal door at the condo across my house. He's doing that like 15 minutes already and the door's still shut. And it began to rain while he's at it. I guess he's screwed.

Anyway, maybe somebody should sell a T-shirt with 'Revision starts tomorrow' printed. I bet it's going to be a best seller.

And yes, I better start my revision tonight! No more excuses!

_________

Why have it been raining so much these days. Must had spoilt many plans for recess week.

Now I know what does a draggy meeting means. If he wasn't there, I'm sure the meeting will eat into dinner. It doesn't help that the meeting's mainly dominated by three participants.

Focus is the keyword.

I know I'm kinda slow but Franz Ferdinand came out with another album after godknowshowlong. Check out the track 'What She Came For', awesome ending to the track, just made you want to do some headbanging.

You gonna be the one that saves me?

23

Thanks for the key, card, towel, mug and t-shirt!

But the greatest gift of all is the love shown by those who remembered. I'm not going to list down like some thank you speech.

Busy busy busy

What a week! Let's start with Saturday...

Went for Arts from the Heart at Toa Payoh HDB Hub. Nothing really interesting there, lots of random performance that doesn't really interest me. Lots of low budget game booths which looks like a rushed job. Overall, lots of areas that required improvement before it can be considered as a successful event.

Preparation for Art Jam Day on the following day. Somebody sure is tired after a 'Lost' marathon and slept upon hearing Tiong Wee's voice during the meeting. Got to know some of the CAC people better. I doubt they read this blog but, hi Gloria and Danielle.

Helped out with the CACFOC's vday fliers distribution after that. Unethical business practice employed by some of us. And oh, someone got a boyfrienddddd...

Art Jam Day sure is tiring. The performances are great but I hardly got anytime to sit/stand still due to the duties I have to perform. NTU students know a good act when they see one and the speed they disperse after each performance sure is lightning quick.

Whispers during the post Art Jam Day celebration on Wednesday. First time I still feel unsafe after putting on the seat belt while sitting at the back of the car. The orange Picanto don't count because there's too many people on the back seat for the belts to go around.

Vday flower production for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Surprisingly the air conditioning isn't as cold as last year's.

Got my driving license on Friday. Honestly, I wasn't really really really excited when I got it. I was a bit worried when the front wheels touched the kerb when exiting from the parallel parking but I guess I expect to get it.

I finally drove the car alone to school on Saturday. Had some trouble parking the car due to the lack of sighting poles. There wasn't much cars in SBS, so I parked there easily.

Max's 'whacking' session started after the all the flowers were delivered. Finally everyone that got 'whacked' previously have their revenge, I'm sure the photos will be uploaded to fb very soon. Got a taste of an Awfully Chocolate cake and I don't see the big fuss about it. It taste a bit better than the Sara Lee chocolate pound cake.

Drove MJ back to Yishun. Was okay when I drove there but I got totally lost when I exited at Jalan Bahar. Had dinner at IMM, where it looks like everyone in the area went there for dinner too. Circled the carpark like five times before finally getting a, guess what, parallel parking lot. I'm just glad that I didn't damage the car infront and behind of me while attempting to do it.

Had a good laugh watching the responses of people when k5, ak and wt gave the left over roses to strangers in IMM. While k5 gives to random couples, ak and wt seem to be targeting single girls...

Remembered I said it's like everyone in the area went to IMM at the same time. I'm sure that almost everyone tried to get out of IMM at the same time. Got stuck in a traffic jam that didn't move for 15 mins. Ridiculous la.

Got into a bit of trouble when trying to park when I arrived home. I very nearly scratched a Benz while reversing. In the end I got to call my father for help. I bet my mother is like laughing at my lousy parking skills when she saw my go forward and backwards in the carpark.

__________

Quizzes next week! I think MSE professors don't like vday 'cos they come one after another right after the vday weekend. Not that I got a date or something but dating your books/notes for vday?

Where is the love?

Ridiculous-ness & Disappointments

Something's very wrong when you stared at the tutorial questions and you don't know where to start.

And the problem is that they are not taught yet! Not that I'm lazy or something but I don't see the purpose of doing a tutorial when they haven't touched on the topics yet. Tutorials are meant to reinforce what you had learnt during lectures, not the other way round.

Gonna pity the TA who have to teach all the concepts during the tutorials.

Finally it rained. Tired of seeing those dried grass patches around my estate.

Coupled with the incense paper burning during CNY, I actually saw a small forest fire on my way home. Can't they burn them in the bins provided? Burning them on the pavement leaves ugly burnt marks and now with the windy conditions, causes fires.

______

Wonder when's this movie is going to open locally? It's going to be good 'cos it's written by Neil Gaiman.

______

Things not looking good. Trying times ahead.

Where to start?

Looks like this is turning into a weekly review.

Did lab report during CNY. While everyone is either gambling, chatting or stuffing themselves crazy with CNY goodies, I'm actually rushing my two lab reports. I feel that some of the lab report question topics are only covered further in the year, so it's time consuming to read up on concepts that will be taught later. So much for self motivated studies eh?

'Celebrated' pak's birthday. Actually it's just an excuse to smear him with camo paint. For once Max actually toned down his role this time round. Maybe it's because his birthday is coming up next?

Another birthday celebration on Friday. Joyce's 21st, really large number of people invited. Took a ride on Rosa's dad's van, hilarious bickering between their entire family when they took a wrong turn out of the PIE. Seen the effects of alcohol and I say it doesn't look very good. Spent most of the night chatting with people while watching Joyce's friends antics when they're drunk.

Happy 21st Joyce! Hope that you become wiser so that you make the right decisions in things you do. (Is it me but I'm sure there's some grammatical error somewhere in this sentence)

Went to Joel's house for AJ Choir gathering. Bishan MRT station sure changed lots, now there's covered doors like those underground train stations. Watched (and sleeped through half of) Wall.E and (but didn't sleep through) Meet the Spartans. Not that Wall.E is boring (it's really good) but fatigue from the previous night had set in.

This week doesn't look very good and next week's going to be real busy.
