CNY: It's Bak Kwa Time!

18 Jan
Met up with some of my pals from AJ Choir. Had dinner at the 99cents Japanese sushi chain. Decent fare for the money that's spent.

Watched Changeling after dinner. For once a film starring Angelina Jolie that doesn't have her sex appeal as the main theme. Not a bad film, the scenes in the mental hospital are really good.

Had to cab back because Joel's driving his selfish car which can only seat two person. Naturally he sent the one staying nearest his home back.

21 Jan
LT28: it begins all over again. 3 weeks to mid terms.

22 Jan
Actually was going to Bugis to look for clothes with gawi ended up with pak at Marina Square. Found a nice pair of jeans there. pak has this obsession with hoodies and is mysteriously drawn towards them.

Gawi later joined us at Bugis which doesn't have what I want, nothing suitable for me, too much black and whites.

Somehow pak ended up getting a watch which he only found out on the next day that the other dials on the face of the watch are for show only, they don't move at all.

23 Jan
Was tasked to take pictures of booths for the sponsors' day for Joel. I think anyone that saw me were like thinking 'Why this guy taking photos of booths?' Felt so strange la.

Everyone seems to be there only to get the free nescafe drink (me included) and ignoring the other booths. They are there only because the booths are free and looked especially bored while tending the booths due to extremely slow business.

24 Jan
Somehow everyone's at Raffles City today. Bumped into familiar faces who are, just like me, doing last minute clothes hunting for CNY.

Time for some rant about CNY clothes hunting. It's tiring. Somehow I got to find clothes that are not black/white, matches the theme colour for the year (fortune teller thingy) and finally something that I like and will wear on days other than CNY.

So mafan la, can't i just get something that I like?

And wassup with the lousy singing by the television actors/actresses? I mean they sound really bad, kind of remind me of those early round auditions of American Idol. As much as Fiona Xie is pretty, I'll rather she just shut her mouth up, I can't really stand her voice.

Edit: What's worse than lousy singing by them? Lousy lip-syncing on the Channel 8 CNY show. I mean how difficult is it to match the mouth with the music playing in the background?

Week 2

This weeks seems to fly by especially fast, maybe it's the effects of a full timetable.

Tech Comm tutor is interesting, she thrashes the Effective Comm tutor by miles. Come to think of it, they should swap places as the Tech Comm tutor demonstrates Effective Communication very well. But why must we buy the textbook? Another unnecessary spending.

Went for NAF Opening to take photos for some Business Manager report, which Gawi said was incredibly lousy. Of course la, mine is confirm chui when you compare to those prawn took.

Most of the acts are blah except for the Jazz band. I'll pay to hear them if they have a more mainstream repertoire.

The crowd began to shrink after the goodie bags have been distributed. Got 'ambushed' by a professor while talking to Shanjing and Victor. Interesting stories but mostly talk cock-ish.

Somehow I ended up as the 'guy-that-can-take-group-photos' due to me not being in any of the committees.

Lab session is screwed up big time. All the readings taken are out of the ordinary even the lab technician had no idea what went wrong. I really hope this has no impact on the formal lab report I have to do.

Dong dong dong chiang! 10 more days to the Lunar New Year. And I still haven't got any new clothes.

Deal

Closed two deals in a short span of a week. I got to say the feeling sure is gratifying.

Maybe it's a sign of things to come?

But those two deals are done with companies that we had previously worked with. Zero hits for companies that we made cold calls to. Something to think about.

Got to meet a company tomorrow morn. Hope that something productive comes out of it.

Why does Chinese New Year songs always sound the same? They are like of the same tunes and always singing about the same stuff.

And the radio station my mum tunes into have this tendency to play them for like every other songs.

The songs also signal that it's time to shop for new clothes. And I dread it, it's like buying for the sake of buying rather than buying because you like it.

Waiting

Spent the day waiting.
Waiting for that bus.
Waiting for the queue to move.
Waiting for that call.
Waiting for that vacancy.
Waiting for someone to appear at the door.
Waiting's no fun.
Nobody likes waiting but it is necessary.

Or is it?

and so it Begins...

Prologue

3 Jan 09

Went for car wash canvassing. How come I'm always grouped with Pak and AlexC? Not complaining though, since everyone is already familiar with each other. Time passes quickly when you're making lousy jokes about Max being the 'commander' and we are the 'peons'.

I'm still looking for the one that took the order for that huge black Mitsubishi Pajero..

Dinner was supposed to be at Aston's but switched to Bak Ku Teh (which I prefered) due to the incredible 40 mins queue there.

4 Jan 09

Went for recce with the progs. Decided to meet 'them' at Serene Centre abit later as they have a meeting there earlier. Upon reaching, saw Pak emo'ing with Ronald McDonald in front of Serene Centre, looks like everybody 'fly his pigeon'.

Entered Botanic Gardens through the Cluny Park gate and exited at the Tanglin Gate. The Botanic Gardens is actually a nice place for picnicking, large open fields with nice scenery.

Somehow the recce trip became 'le Tour de Parc' and food trail in 'Vice City'. The food trail sure is an eye opener for someone that never stepped foot in the area before.

5 Jan 09 onwards..

Back to the daily grind of school. Due to lecture cancellations and lack of tutorials, I have a 3 school days for this week.

Good in the sense that I can camp for electives, not that I have high hopes for it as they are deemed 'super-hot' electives.
