Dreaming

I always ask myself (during revision and slaving over tutorials), what in the world am I doing this for? Which boils down to what am I seeking in life.

This brings about my various ambitions that I thought of in my short 22 years of life.

I would like to be a TV travel guide, where the television companies actually pays for your holidays in different countries. The chance to travel always appeal to me cause being in a middle class family limits my chance to go overseas (Sentosa and JB doesn't count).

I would like to retire before 50 and open a cafe in some quiet corner of Singapore. I like coffee but there isn't much cafes serving good coffee here. They recently had a change of barista at the Spinelli of Novena Square to someone that pales in comparison.

Dreams are nice to have, but I have to face the reality. I can't be a TV travel guide because I don't look good and have too boring a personality that attracts television audience. Retiring before 50 seems like a longshot, because I don't forsee myself earning that much in the future being an engineer.

I guess that's why they were call dreams.

MUG!

I think quizzes knocked some sense into me, time to wake up and work hard. Oh that's an NTU mug btw, which I found on this website.

Who actually would want souvenirs with NTU logo on it?

15/03: the second Gathering

23 Feb, White Dog Cafe, Vivocity. 2nd JC class gathering of the year.

A restaurant with tons of dog deco in the front of it, it has a nice view of the waters between Sentosa and Mainland Singapore (accented with the lights coming from the port nearby). The food is pretty decent, with tiny serving for pasta.

I still think that Kian Huat/Kevin/Steven Lim/Hall Prince of Hall 14 still does better write ups on the pictures. Go there and laugh at the funny pictures.

Bad attempt at getting an unglam shot of Kian Huat. One day, I will succeed!

The funny thing is that we met the FOC main comm people back from testing beach games in Sentosa and they were having dinner at the restaurant next to us. Almost blocked the entire corridor when taking a group photo (which Gawi neber send to me).

Preparing slides for presentation is one thing, preparing them when you got hardly any idea how you should go about it is another thing. And a physics test to study on top of it.

S/U - not

I didn't exercised my S/U option. Time to get serious and put in more effort for my electives.

Seriously, I think that the S/U option should be exercised after the results are out, like NUS.

38 - 1 Days

Saturday starts with a sms from Joel Lim:
"bro, when your exams end?"

I went to check the last day of the exams and it's on 29 Apr. No formulaes and head scratching over tutorials for three whole months, with the option of going for a holiday overseas. Something to look forward to, right?

Later at night, a msg from Victor:
"38 days to go before exams jiayou!"

Then it hits me, 38 days to prepare for the exams.

And to put that into perspective, I had not really touched my physics, maths and computing. And the bad thing is that I had flunked both my maths quizzes. Not to say that there are two presentations that needs preparation Reality sucks doesn't it?

38 days of hard work in exchange for 3 months of freedom, I can live with that.
__________

I got to mention about the FA Cup upsets over Saturday. Both Manchester United and Chelsea are out of the hunt. Manchester United got (undeservingly) beaten by Portsmouth while Chelsea got dumped out of the competition by lowly Barnsley. Both giant killing acts enacted in the FA Cup.

(Still) On the loose

The manhunt for Mas Selamat continues after so many days. It kind of worry me as in how can they allow the most dangerous terrorist in Singapore escape while using the toilet.

I think the question now is:

- How is he able to escape with the (supposedly) tight security at the detention centre?

- Who's going to take responsibility for this lapse?

Luckily I stay across from a mosque. Should be quite safe from any bombing attempts.

Recess is over. Here comes the onslaught of quizzes...

Movies in Summer 2008

Iron Man

The Dark Knight

Two movies that I'm totally hyped up for.

From the trailers, they managed to nail Tony Stark's (that's Iron Man for non-comic readers out there) character.

While The Dark Knight is the sequel to the BEST Batman movie in recent history. Best DC hero VS the best DC villian = hell of a movie!

Even with the increased ticket prices, I'll sure watch them when they screen in Singapore.
