Gift Ideas?

No idea as to what to give to that special one of yours? Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg came up with something that will definitely 'surprise' them!

Follow these easy steps for the 'gift that keeps giving':

1: Cut a hole in a box
2: Put your junk in that box
3: Make her open the box

Winning an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, many sure agree that the gift idea is good!

Happy holidays (and do look out for strategically placed gifts)!

SIAN!

You know you're bored when...

1) you start to do housework by your own initiative.

2) you think that hanging around in a cafe to play your PSP is entertaining.

3) looking at notes for future modules sounds like a good idea.

4) you entertain yourself by clicking random links on Wikipedia.

5) you start to watch reruns.

6) you start to do up such a list.

At least it beats going to school attending boring lectures/tutorials. I guess its me, I can't really stay put in one place for a really long time as I get bored easily. Just like a small kid, I am always like to play the newer toys and constantly looking for new things to experience and do.

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 07

I had experienced first hand of a marathon on Sunday morning. Volunteered with a bunch of FOC people to raise some funds and we had to report at the Padang at an unearthly 1am.

Initially the plan was for the entire bunch of people to man the drinks station but due to shortage of manpower in other places, some of us got route marshalling instead.

Everyone got paired up with someone while I had to man the route alone. At least I got to feel the cool breeze and see the sunrise in the morning, which feels really good as I'm usually wake up late.

You got to give kudos to those who do this on a competitive level. Most of them are able to complete the entire 42+km in 2 hours 15 mins. To put that in perspective, imagining running 1km in 3.2 mins, surely not an easy task!

Anyway the number of people who needs some deep heat rub cream(for muscle cramps and tightening) is overwhelming. Everyone will crowd around you just to get some of the cream. A tube only lasted for 10 mins!

The whole thing ended at around 12pm when the last two runners (or rather walkers) made it to the half way point and was persuaded by the organisers to board a minivan instead of finishing the whole marathon. A pity that they can't complete the marathon but you got to be realistic. If after 6 hours you only managed to complete half of the marathon, you will definitely not able to finish the marathon before 2pm.

I have to give credit to those who I know that managed to finish the run, no matter how they do it. Its an accomplishment where only those with the proper physical and mental conditioning can finish it.

Tuesday with George

Met up with George in town because I have tons of time and was terribly bored. George is my closest friend in while serving my National Service, which means I see him day in and day out for two years (excluding weekends and public holidays). Furthermore, we also temp'd together at IRAS manning the hotlines. Luckily he's in EEE or else I'm going to see him for another four years (ok, I'm just joking over here)!

One of the things we usually do after knocking off from work (in IRAS) is to head to this Spinelli coffee joint at Novena Square to have a cuppa. Which is what we did after looking for this jacket for his friend's birthday. Of all the major coffee joints in Singapore, Spinelli best suits my taste, although the deco could be improved to make the place more cosy. If the barista seems to be in the mood, you will get some really nice latte art (unlike the one above).

The thing is that he hardly spends time in coffee joint alone as he mentioned that having a latte alone doesn't seem enjoyable. Furthermore, if he wants a caffeine boost, he will just have a kopi at any random coffeeshops. I agree with him fully, as things are meant to be enjoyed with great company. Its the same logic as alcohol, the atmosphere is absolutely when in company of different group (the number of ladies presented is the factor, I guess).

Talking to George brings me back to the times where things we do doesn't have that huge an effect in the immediate future. If you did something wrong in the army, you will at most get reprimanded by superior and signing extras. Now things seems more in my own hands, one wrong move could meant repeating certain subjects for the next semester.

Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.

You just might get it all,
And then some you don't want.

Busy Sem 2?

Just got a quick look at the possible timetable for semester 2 and it looks like its going to be rather packed. And that doesn't include the electives that I have in mind.

Worse of all, there isn't any free days as there are lectures every single day of the week :\

Can't wait to see what grouping the school will throw me into. Maybe its going to be the same tutorial grouping as last semester which will mean some major action during the add/drop period.

"It's Always Better on Holiday"

Exams are finally over (and this post is overdue)!

And its time for "This Semester in Review"

1) Is it me but are the air conditioning waaaaay too cold? Visit Library 2 and you will understand what I mean. Almost everyone is dressed up in sweaters/jackets/windbreakers. I bet that it snows there after dark.

2) Where's the number one place to take a nap? Its the library duh! Its quiet and its cold - I think there are more people napping in the library than studying. And it gets pretty annoying when you really need a table to study that oh-so-important-precession-that-you-don't-understand-at-all topic. Maybe the thick textbooks makes great pillows, you know those hard pillows in period shows? Guess that's how "Sleep on it"came about.

3) Library 2 is a great place to study - if you can stand the cold. I always hang out at the tables in the Reserve Book Room (which is really not a room per se) as they will always have the newest textbooks available and its really quiet, unless you got a bunch of kids who discuss their work there.

4) And why I keep on harping about Library 2? If you get lectures that are at a pace where you can't follow, you definitely need to refer to textbooks. Like I had mentioned in my old posts, I'm way too el cheapo to buy the oh-so-expensive textbooks. Furthermore, I can't possible study at home where there are too much distractions.

Now on to other things:
The latest Jay Chou album came out and like the album title, <<我很忙>>, he's so busy that the album length has begin reduced to under 40 minutes. After attempts at clearer singing diction in his past album, the old mumbling Jay style is back.

The ballads are the better songs on the albums.

Songs I like on the album:
02.彩虹
05.蒲公英的约定
10.最长的电影

Some of songs are pretty lame like <<牛仔很忙>> and <<阳光宅男>>, but he's Jay Chou and he gets off doing things like that.

Has anyone saw the MV for <<阳光宅男>>? Who's the girl in the MV?

Oh yea, did I mention that my father bought a PSP Slim? Too bad he got a black PSP which is easily stained by my grubby little hands. Its a 'pocket friendly version' which means that I can enjoy games after like a few days of wait. Not that there are tons of games available when compared to GBA, but I'm not complaining since I didn't spent a single cent on it (:

I'm currently playing Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, which is an updated version of Final Fantasy Tactics on the Playstation. Quite addictive as I've clocked in like 20 hours within 4 days.

Time to relax after such a stressful semester and at least I can put my mind aside on schoolwork until the registration of subjects and the the dreaded release of results.

Anyone saw how England crashed out the European Qualifiers with a whimper? After that defeat of Russia on Israeli home ground, the ball seems to be on England's court but they blew it with a 2-3 loss to Croatia. Maybe its because of the screw up of the Croatia National Anthem by the singer where he sang 'Mila kura si planina' which can be interpreted as 'My dear, my penis is a mountain'.

Guess that's all I'll write for now, remember - "It's Always Better on Holiday" (:

Exams Week 1

Barely survived the first week of the exams.

I actually thought that the maths paper was in the afternoon and decided to sleep in for the morning. Greg phoned me to ask why I wasn't at the examination hall. Immediately tried to phone for a cab but since its like the morning rush hour, I couldn't connect to the line. Luckily there was a cab for hire after waiting in the rain for roughly five minutes.

Managed to enter the examination hall half an hour after the paper has started. I guess the half hour advantage will haunt me as I skipped two questions because I deemed the method used will be very time consuming.

And let's not talk about the physics paper. Two of the broad topics I studied for didn't even appear at all (Angular Dynamics and Diffraction). So I'm rather sad that the effort I placed into these two topics won't even contribute to my grades. ):

Anyways two more papers to go before the end of this semester. Something to look forward to! (:
