Guess that explains quite a bit. Same old feeling in JC and I hated it.
Kah Hui organised a 15/03 gathering which was held at Mind Cafe at Prinsep St. Janice, ZhiQi, WenChuan, Tien Soon, Kian Huat (he goes by Kevin in NTU), Kah Hui and I showed up. We are supposed to meet in Plaza Singapore at 6:30pm but I was late due to the horrible traffic jam which stretched from the junction at the Istana to all the way to Paragon. A usual 40 min trip to town turned to a journey that is almost 2 hours. What's worse is that I've got a bunch of ang moh teens annoying the hell out of everyone in the bus by running and jumping around the bus.
Finally reached the Mind Cafe after 2 hours and 15 minutes of travelling. Note to self, take the train to town in the evenings.
I'll let the pictures do the talking:
"Shiver me timbers!" Kah Hui and Wenchuan nailed the right pirate expression while the rest tried their best.
Wenchuan and I trying to sort out the rules to one of the games...
While Tien Soon looks at the (rather ragged) rules.
After a few minutes and consultation with the staff...
WC: "Mien Gott! You're right, Danny! I hold my head in shame!"
Meanwhile, the rest began to camwhore...
Kah Hui's face getting numb after smiling for tons of photos.
Janice and Zhiqi attempts to move as far away from the camera as possible (so that their face will look smaller).
Kian Huat does his best Steven Lim expression!
Tien Soon avoiding the toppling of the Jenga Stack
The rest of us stayed away from the table as far as possible, knowing how clumsy uncoordinated Tien Soon sometimes is.
4D anyone?
Somehow the positioning of Kian Huat's head and Kah Hui's pose makes the picture looks very wrong.
Kian Huat trying to block Kah Hui, guessed it worked.
Everybody just love to kick Kian Huat.
That's all for my coverage of our mini 15/03 outing. Hope that many more could make it for the next. For a more in-depth coverage of the outing go to Kian Huat's blog.

Met up with some of my OG mates for a movie session. We watched the movie at Tiong Bahru Plaza because some of them work near the mall. I wonder how they managed to get a job since the holidays are only about a month long.
投名状 is set in the late Qing Dynasty during the 太平 Rebellion, tells about three sworn brothers (played by Andy Lau, Jet Li and Takeshi Kaneshiro) who turn against one another over a beautiful woman (Xu Jinglei). It is a war film in the earlier two-thirds and goes deep into each character for the final third.
There was a trailer for a Thai horror film before the movie and Victor gave Wan Yan a nudge during the scariest part of the trailer. The result - Victor giggled, Wan Yan almost screamed and those in front of us stared at us. Nice one, Victor (haha)!
Random thoughts about the film:
- there's too many close up shots of Takeshi Kaneshiro. I guess its to cater to the female viewers.
- if you're one of the main actors, your face will only be 'just' dirty, while the extras looks like they have never washed their faces in their lifetime.
- I wonder how much they paid for the extras 'acting' as dead bodies, the body count is almost as close to the film '300' (Edit: I guess there's some video editing done).
- Jet Li must be some kind of superhuman, he continued to kill close to a dozen of enemy soldiers after having a spear through his shoulder.
- Takeshi Kaneshiro sure looks like he's in the wrong era during the final third of the film as he's dressed in winter clothing that looks like something wore in Russia.
- only Takeshi Kaneshiro thinks that shaving is important as he's the one that appeared clean shaven almost throughout the entire movie.
This is for you if you like war films (and Takeshi Kaneshiro). The final third of the film is paced too slowly and almost put me to sleep.
3/5 - Its not my type of movie.

Found this show that is sponsored by Norton Anti-Virus. Very Power Ranger-ish with lousy computer puns. The maid is cute too!
Norton Fighter: Part 1
Norton Fighter: Part 2
Now that's what I call good marketing for the product!

Its good to meet up with OG mates from the CAC FOC. We had an overnight KBox session at Cineleisure. I arrived at around 6:40pm and was supposed to meet them at 7pm but I decided to walk around the Hereens to do some people watching seek shelter from the rain.
Seeing all the teens walking around the mall sure makes me feel old and I'm only 21 this year! I wonder how will I feel once I turn 22 (two days after Valentine's Day *hint* *hint*)? Check out this really funny strip I came across while surfing the net:

The Monsoon season is back and the skies are covered with dark clouds for the past few days.
I had woke up early this morning, its quite warm and thought to myself that finally the weather had cleared up, only to see the heavens pour buckets now.
I guess our monsoon season is almost similar to winter in temperate countries, replace the snow with tons of rain instead. People are also dressing up for season too, jackets and scarves seems to be the choice clothing accessory while walking around in the malls.
I'm currently trapped in the (guess what) Spinelli branch in Novena Square, sipping a nice hot cup of latte, after having lunch with my ex-colleague. I guess this is how it feels like during winter.
I miss the sun.

No idea as to what to give to that special one of yours? Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg came up with something that will definitely 'surprise' them!

You know you're bored when...
1) you start to do housework by your own initiative.
2) you think that hanging around in a cafe to play your PSP is entertaining.
3) looking at notes for future modules sounds like a good idea.
4) you entertain yourself by clicking random links on Wikipedia.
5) you start to watch reruns.
6) you start to do up such a list.
At least it beats going to school attending boring lectures/tutorials. I guess its me, I can't really stay put in one place for a really long time as I get bored easily. Just like a small kid, I am always like to play the newer toys and constantly looking for new things to experience and do.

I had experienced first hand of a marathon on Sunday morning. Volunteered with a bunch of FOC people to raise some funds and we had to report at the Padang at an unearthly 1am.
Initially the plan was for the entire bunch of people to man the drinks station but due to shortage of manpower in other places, some of us got route marshalling instead.
Everyone got paired up with someone while I had to man the route alone. At least I got to feel the cool breeze and see the sunrise in the morning, which feels really good as I'm usually wake up late.
You got to give kudos to those who do this on a competitive level. Most of them are able to complete the entire 42+km in 2 hours 15 mins. To put that in perspective, imagining running 1km in 3.2 mins, surely not an easy task!
Anyway the number of people who needs some deep heat rub cream(for muscle cramps and tightening) is overwhelming. Everyone will crowd around you just to get some of the cream. A tube only lasted for 10 mins!
The whole thing ended at around 12pm when the last two runners (or rather walkers) made it to the half way point and was persuaded by the organisers to board a minivan instead of finishing the whole marathon. A pity that they can't complete the marathon but you got to be realistic. If after 6 hours you only managed to complete half of the marathon, you will definitely not able to finish the marathon before 2pm.
I have to give credit to those who I know that managed to finish the run, no matter how they do it. Its an accomplishment where only those with the proper physical and mental conditioning can finish it.
