CAC FOC 2007: Redux

23 Jul 07 - DAY 1

Was told to meet at the bus interchange where bus 179 is. Sat there for like ten minutes before finding out that the whole OG was waiting at the control station of the MRT. Once I reached there everyone seems like really enjoying themselves playing icebreaker games. I just stood around for a few minutes before we set off to NTU.

After lunch and more icebreaker games, we were treated to the camp introductory video: ZEROES - a parody of the show HEROES, which I enjoyed very much.

The next programme is some high rope thingy (ok, I don't know what its called) at the chalet opposite Kah Hui's house. Yep, you heard me. OPPOSITE Kah Hui's house. I still can recall both of joking about who in their right minds will stay in those chalets.

Different OGs got different courses and we got the the course where you have to cross the whole thing by holding on to ropes with loops for your feet. According to the instructor, its rather rare that visitors are able to attempt the course.

Night falls and night games begins! Too bad we didn't get to play paratroopers cause somebody actually reported to the police. I spent the night at Kah Hui's house. Sure beats the hard floor and cold showers others are having :P

24 Jul 07 - DAY 2

Didn't feel so well when I woke up. Runny nose kind of killed off my mood for the day.

Beach games at Sentosa. Did I mentioned that the OG I'm in consist of only 4 guys? So when the programmers says they need couples for any games, all the guys naturally have to play.

Waited for roughly 4 -5 hours in the darkness of the beach pavilion playing games, chatting, guessing what in the world is the trick behind 'Honey-Milk' and falling asleep when some begin exchanging ghost stories. The wait was due to the fact that the Fright Night was done with pairs, which actually equals to about 100+ pairs. I got paired up with Si Jia (hope I don't get the name wrong). Both of us are in the same JC so we kind of talked about our JC CCAs while walking. I find the walking in the dark more scarier than the planted stuff.

25 Jul 07 - DAY 3

Food Trail day. Its like the Amazing Race but the destinations are already known to the OGLs. Instead of running around, the whole group are more content with strolling towards the different destinations. If I can recall, running was kept at the minimum. At each station, certain food item has to be bought and eaten up before the station task were given. I think I'm more interested in the food cause I'm like so hungry.

Initiation Night was up in the evening/night where every one guy was paired up with a girl and was made to go thru the whole course blindfolded. During the course, water/detergent powder/toothpaste/(especially) flour/eggs where dumped on the poor freshmen. As there are more girls than guys for this camp, some male seniors are roped into going the course. The male seniors are apparently not blindfolded and stayed clean through out the whole thing.

What follows was time spent in the bathroom trying to get the dreaded flour + water + eggs mixture out of the hair.

26 Jul 07 - DAY 4

Water games scheduled in the morning got cancelled because of lightning. SP Night came after that. Had dinner at Pariss International, which was by my standards pretty good.

Clubbing at DXO really suprised me. Apparently everyone in the OG danced. Furthermore they danced all through the night. I'm real tired so my time was spent watching people dance and drinking. Did anyone saw the slick moves of Lionel? Totally groovy.

27 Jul 07 - DAY 5

Heavy rain in the morning meant that the planned trip around NTU was cancelled. The OG finally got the skit sorted out in the afternoon.

Played 'No NGs in 100 Seconds' in the afternoon. I volunteered to be the son which happened to have no long lines to memorise.

Finale Night should seriously be changed to Gay Nite because almost all the skits have cross dressing guys/guys acting as girls/gays. Mai Gay got second in the Cheer Fight.

Overall a really fun camp. Like what I've said in the last post, I'm really glad that I joined a Freshman Orientation Camp. Some quotes and musings before I end this post:

- How come Galer and Aemi never met in any of the games for the first 2 days? I would really like to have a PK match against Kah Hui (he's in Aemi).

- "I'm from SMU, what the hell am I doing here?"

- Isn't this period of the year supposed to be hot and humid? It rained like almost every day. I guess its really Global Warming in action. Reduce your carbon emission now!

- "We need 4 couples from each OG."

- Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
